Merryn moved to London from her native Australia in 1994. She initially worked in retail for brands including Katharine Hamnett and Joseph, as well as having a market stall selling vintage clothing. Her big break happened in 1997 with a job opportunity assisting the Fashion Director of i-D magazine Edward Enninful, who was also working for Italian Vogue and Missoni. Merryn was part of the i-D family for six years, working first for Edward then assisting Terry Jones the Founder, Editor and Creative Director. Merryn was a Fashion Editor for the magazine when she left in 2003 to pursue a freelance styling career. Merryn was the Guest Fashion Director of EXIT Magazine for one year and then went on to work for numerous publications including Italian and British Vogue and US Harpers Bazaar. Merryn has worked as a consultant and styled many fashion shows, from established brands such as Byblos and Isabel Marant to up and coming designers like Michelle Lowe Holder and Sandy Dalal. She has worked in both womenswear and menswear, styling advertising campaigns for brands such as Christian Lacroix, Kenzo, Sony and Levi's. Merryn has worked with musicians including Natasha Bedingfield, Richard Ashcroft and Diana Ross. Merryn has also worked with top advertising agencies and directors, styling many TV advertising campaigns including Mitsubishi, Fanta, Polaroid and Adidas. Merryn taught Fashion Styling at the London Istituto Marangoni for two years in 2005 and 2006, also working at the Marangoni Institute in Milan.

In 2011 Merryn opened 69b Boutique in the heart of Hackney on one of East London’s most treasured streets, Broadway Market. Receiving the title as ‘the hippest place in the world’ by Italian Vogue, Broadway Market is home to cafes, restaurants, bookshops, retro furniture stores and fashion boutiques mixed in with old laundrettes and betting shops. The area attracts thousands of visitors each weekend, coming to enjoy the eclectic weekly Saturday market.
